Wanting An American Indian Dog? Beware. So you have heard of and seen on the internet pictures of what is called the American Indian Dog...or perhaps you have even been to a breeder where certain dogs were on "display". Beware. I do not know what the true origin of these dogs is, but you can be assured they are not what they are made to appear to be. We had one of these American Indian dogs. It was a beautiful little pup... but it all ended there. As he grew.. he became completely uncontrollable,was unable to be trained in any way, and was destructive in every facet of his life, from breaking through the door screens or even windows to get what he wanted, to breaking through the electric fence at will.. then being afraid to come back through it.. to becoming a runner at any chance. We live on plenty of acreage.. but it wasn't nearly enough. This was a wild animal that could not be trusted in any way and we have come to find out since that we were far from the only ones to have been "duped". If you are tempted to buy an American Indian dog... you are hereby fore warned. We finally decided to put the dog down before something to be forever regretted took place.
