The Mouth of the Rio Grande
If you drive along the southern beach along the Gulf of Mexico to the mouth of the Rio Grande, you may be surprised to see the mouth of that great river dry at times. I mean dry.. no water going into the Gulf of Mexico. That is because so much of the water is diverted into irrigation rivers to service the acres and acres and acres of crops grown in southern Texas. It is good to know the water is being used efficiently. |
