Election Day ... As The World Turns

As the world turns ... we can see how the old cliche comes into play... "the more things change .. the more they stay the same". It is this nature of life that always seems to bring us and our country back to an even keel when events build up to bring us tilted to the point of capsizing. Today.. Election Day (yes.. in caps.. that is how important it is) will set us on a road that will hopefully allow us to stay on that same path .. the path of tilting... self correcting.. tilting again. As long as man is willing to help himself... to do what must be done to take care of the responsibility for himself.. this tilting will always take place. I fear it is when man decides it is not his responsiblility to care for his own needs in any way ...and begins to believe others owe him ... that the tilting will stop and the self correcting can no longer take place .. as the control is taken into the hands of a machine that will twist and turn us at will to accomplish what one segment and one segment of life wants only... that segment in power. Election Day. It has always been a time of change being offered. Whatever change was offered was tempered by the reality of our Constitution and our Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of our government working to ensure that none of those changes would ever be allowed to be to our detriment... as a country or as individual citizens. Will this continue? The hope is that whoever is elected as our President today will still have that powerful hand on him working through our Constitution.. that greatest of all documents as far as individual freedoms are concerned ...written by the wisest men we could possibly hope to know... written to form and then preserve us as a Nation .. as a free Nation .. to remain that beacon of hope to the whole world. America still stands as that beacon of hope .. the freeest, strongest Nation on earth. May the results of today's Election Day allow that to continue.. for as long as the world turns. |
