Consequeces of Instant Gratificaiton
We live in a time of instant gratification in almost all things. Is there a price to pay for that? Who has time or patience for painted art, for crochted items of beauty, for any handwork of any kind that takes fine work and time consuming patience? When have you last seen an original painting done by a painter of our times? Have you seen many hand quilted quilts? How many heirloom hand crossstitched Christmas stockings have you ever known of? How about carpentry work? Do you know of anyone who owns any handcrafted carpentry items in their home? More than that.. is anyone takng the time to show our children how to do any of these things? Do any of our children even have the interest to want to know how to learn them? The price of progress in all things. Is it too high? |
